I had a pretty good week last week in picking winners as I picked 9 out of 14 games correctly.
Below are my picks for Week 6.
Chicago at Atlanta
I am looking forward to watching this game, a hot offense goes against a solid defense. I predict Chicago by a touchdown or less behind Orton and Forte. I think Atlanta will keep it close but find moving the ball tougher than usual against the Bears.
My Pick: Chicago
Miami at Houston
Will Houston get their first win of the season? Miami are 2-2 but have beaten both the Patriots and Chargers this year and look to be much improved. I think Miami will win on the road with a solid running game behind Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams and no mistakes by Pennington.
My Pick: Miami
Baltimore at Indianapolis
Baltimore are coming off two straight heart-breaking losses (to Pittsburgh and Tennessee) and have the best defense in the NFL, while Indy have struggled but pulled out a close win against Houston last week. I think Indy will get their first home win of the season this week if they can score at least 2 TDs, I think they will.
My Pick: Indianapolis
Detroit at Minnesota
Detroit are 0-4 and many are calling them the worst team in the NFL at this point. It looks like Jon Kitna will miss this game and I have a feeling Minnesota are going to run all over the Lions and get a HUGE game from Adrian Peterson.
My Pick: Minnesota
Oakland at New Orleans
New Orleans lost last week to Minnesota by a field goal and are now 2-3 on the season, I think they are a better team than their record indicates and will rebound this week. Oakland will be able to run the ball at times but it won’t be enough. I pick the Saints at home by at least 2 touchdowns.
My Pick: New Orleans
Cincinnati at N.Y. Jets
The Bengals are 0-5 and Carson Palmer is most likely not going to start this game. The Jets are 2-2 and have Brett Favre starting at QB. That’s about all of the info you need.
My Pick: N.Y. Jets
Carolina at Tampa Bay
Two solid defenses go at it, I like Carolina’s offense better than Tampa’s so I give them the edge in this game.
My Pick: Carolina
St. Louis at Washington
The Rams are 0-4 and playing their first game of the season under new head coach Jim Hasslet, some teams play better when coaching changes are made mid-season so I think they will play with more passion than usual but Washington is just too good. The Redskins get Jason Taylor back on defense this week and will continue to play well on offense. Jason Campbell will throw a few TDs and Clinton Portis will get in the end zone.
My Pick: Washington
Jacksonville at Denver
Jacksonville lost a close one to Pittsburgh last week while Denver beat Tampa by a field goal. I like Denver in this game, I think Jay Cutler will have a solid game and they will pull it out in the 4th quarter. Denver wins by less than 7.
My Pick: Denver
Dallas at Arizona
This may be my surprise pick of the week. Arizona’s offense is fun to watch, Kurt Warner is having a huge season so far. Dallas look beatable at 4-1. I know I have said several times this season that I think Dallas are the best team in the NFC, but I am starting to doubt that. I think both teams will score 30+ but Arizona wins at home.
My Pick: Arizona
Philadelphia at San Francisco
Both teams are 2-3, but I think the Eagles are more desperate for a win. It will be tough for Philly going against an improving SF defense and it looks like they will be without Brian Westbrook in this game. J.T. O’Sullivan does make mistakes as he has thrown 6 interceptions and fumbled 4 times already this season so he will have to play mistake free in this game if they are going to have a shot. I like Philly by 3 or less.
My Pick: Philadelphia
Green Bay at Seattle
If looks like Matt Hasselbeck is out for Seattle and they will most likely start Charlie Frye so they are going to have to rely heavily on their running game which is ranked 6th in the NFL averaging 143 yeards per game. Teams have been able to run against Green Bay but I see the Packers putting 8 men in the box and forcing Frye to throw the ball more. I think Aaron Rodgers will play it safe, make few errors, and they will get a solid game from Ryan Grant.
My Pick: Green Bay
New England at San Diego
San Diego lost to Miami last week and are 2-3 while New England defeated San Francisco and are 3-1. I’ve done well going with the Patriots this year but I think the Chargers need a big win to get on the right track and I predict they get it this week.
My Pick: San Diego
N.Y. Giants at Cleveland
Will the 4-0 Giants lose their first game of the season against the 1-3 Browns? I think not!! The Giants will prove to be too much to handle in every facet of this game. I predict a blowout, the Giants score 30+ while the Browns get less than 10.
My Pick: N.Y. Giants
Week 1 – 8 correct and 7 incorrect. (15 games)
Week 2 – 9 correct and 6 incorrect. (15 games)
Week 3 – 9 correct and 7 incorrect. (16 games)
Week 4 – 5 correct and 8 incorrect. (13 games)
Week 5 – 9 correct and 5 incorrect. (14 games)
My overall record after 4 weeks: 40-33
