I am a little late getting my first week picks in, the first game between the Washington Redskins and NY Giants has actually already taken place (the Giants won 16-7). Below are my picks for the rest of this weeks games.‚Ä®

Cincinnati at Baltimore

The Ravens are starting a rookie at QB in Joe Flacco and potentially another rookie at RB in Ray Rice if Willis McGahee can’t go. The Bengals starting WR’s Chad Ocho Cinco and TJ Houshmandzadeh are a little banged up but should be ok.

My Pick: Cincinnati

NY Jets at Miami

Brett Favre makes his debut as a NY Jet and former Jets QB Chad Pennington makes his debut as a Miami Dolphin. I think both teams have improved in the offseason but I think the Jets had fewer holes to fix and should see better results sooner.

My Pick: NY Jets

Kansas City at New England

If Tom Brady starts I see no reason why New England should lose to a team who may have 7 rookies starting. That being said, New England has looked really bad on offense in the preseason without Brady. As of now the team says he will start and one should remember what the preseason is not…the regular season.

My Pick: New England

Houston at Pittsburgh

As much as I would love to see Houston upset Pittsburgh, I think the Steelers defense will be strong enough to give them a win against the Texans. I think Houston is an improving team and it will be a close game.

My Pick: Pittsburgh

Jacksonville at Tennessee

I think Vince Young will have a rough game and will need help from his running backs if they are going to have a chance. I predict a hard fought, low scoring game that will come down to field position and who wins the turnover battle.

My Pick: Jacksonville

Detroit at Atlanta

Atlanta has rookie QB Matt Ryan making his debut as a Falcon. Atlanta should be better than last year and I think both Detroit and Atlanta should be able to move the ball against each other. I predict that Atlanta RB Michael Turner will have a big first game as a Falcon and also Jon Kitna should be able to make several big plays throwing the ball to WRs Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson.

My Pick: Detroit

Seattle at Buffalo

I think Marshawn Lynch will have a good day running the football for the Bills. I think Buffalo has improved from last season, Seattle is always tough but not sure how much they have improved.

My Pick: Buffalo

Tampa Bay at New Orleans

The Saints will have a top 5 offense this year. They have added TE Jeremy Shockey and have a healthy Deuce McAllister back as well. Tampa are the defending NFC South champs and have been successful against New Orleans in recent years.

My Pick: New Orleans

St Louis at Philadelphia

Philly will be much better than last year, St. Louis will not be too much better.

My Pick: Philadelphia

Dallas at Cleveland

Dallas should be able to run the ball against Cleveland with Marion Barber and Tony Romo has plenty of other weapons to choose from on offense. There is a lot of hype around Cleveland since they won 10 games last year and I think their defense may be slightly improved.

My Pick: Dallas

Carolina at San Diego

Panthers receiver Steve Smith is out for this game and San Diego has a very strong D. I see no reason why San Diego should lose this game and I believe they are on their way to another 10+ win season.

My Pick: San Diego

Arizona at San Francisco

Kurt Warner is starting at QB and has two top-notch starting receivers to throw to, while SF will be relying heavily on Frank Gore to help control the ball.

My Pick: Arizona

Chicago at Indianapolis

Peyton Manning is playing.

My Pick: Indianapolis

Minnesota at Green Bay

Aaron Rodgers starts for Green Bay at QB for the first time. Minnesota has an excellent running game and should have a strong D-line. This should be a great game.

My Pick: Minnesota

Denver at Oakland

We get our first look at running back Darren McFadden in the regular season for Oakland. Denver QB Jay Cutler will need some help as starting WR Brandon Marshall is out. I think Oakland will be able to run the ball and Cutler will have a tough time throwing.

My Pick: Oakland

  1. Not bad so far with 8 wins and 5 losses. Most of the losses were upsets. The Carolina game was insane and the Bears game was beautiful Matt Forte is my hero. Atlanta was a shocker as well I expected Baltimore to beat the Bangles. Tennessee holding on with Young injured was interesting. I hate to see Tom Brady might be injured for the season. Farve was Farve today I hope Green Bay losses big to the Vikings tomorrow. I knew Romo was going to start out like he did last year strong lets see how he maintains.

  2. yeah man, I definitely didn't expect the Bears to beat Indy, that was a nice surpise. Da' Bears have always been my 2nd team after the Bungels. Was cool to see a few upsets with Carolina and Atlanta both winning, and a Browns loss always makes me feel a little better after a Bengals loss.

  3. Yeah that Browns game was disgusting. Romo and company came to play I'm not sure who or what was playing Dallas. The Bungles need a defense that double reverse play made me sick. I'm concerned about the Bears playing Carolina next week. If the Defense plays like they did and Forte and co bring there “A” game I can see the Bears making the playoffs. After seeing the game tonight Ortion has proven himself and I can't wait to see Grossman leave Chicago.

  4. Please do not pick the Redskins, Dolphins, Bengals or Lions anymore this season especially the Redskins. They couldn't beat the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders in a powder puff game.

  5. haha, thanks for the advice Chuck. I may actually vote for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders one week, just for the heck of it.
